(Frequently Asked Questions)

What types of projects do you narrate?

I specialize primarily in audiobook narration, with a strong focus on fiction and narrative nonfiction. My work includes thrillers, military and political suspense, sci‑fi, speculative fiction, drama, and character‑driven novels. I also narrate select nonfiction projects when the material benefits from a natural, grounded delivery.

My narration style emphasizes clarity, emotional authenticity, and long‑form listener engagement—designed specifically for audiobooks rather than short‑form commercial voiceover.

What makes your audiobook narration style unique?

My approach is story‑first and listener‑focused. I aim for performances that feel immersive, believable, and grounded—never cartoonish or over‑performed. Characters are clearly differentiated through tone, cadence, attitude, and subtle vocal placement rather than exaggerated accents.

I’m particularly known for:

  • Natural, cinematic pacing

  • Clear and consistent character voices

  • Strong first‑person narration

  • Emotional range without melodrama

  • Long‑form stamina and consistency across entire books

Do you perform character voices and accents?

Yes—when they serve the story.  You can hear samples of them here.

I perform character voices with restraint and realism, prioritizing clarity and listener comfort over novelty. Accents are handled carefully and respectfully, with variation between characters to avoid sameness.

If a project requires specific accents, dialects, or pronunciation rules, these are discussed and confirmed in advance.

How do you prepare for an audiobook?

Every audiobook begins with a full pre‑read and analysis. During this phase I:

  • Identify character arcs and vocal distinctions

  • Mark pacing, emotional shifts, and emphasis

  • Flag pronunciation questions or unique terminology

  • Clarify tone and performance expectations

Before full production begins, I provide a 15‑minute sample read for approval. This ensures we are fully aligned on tone, pacing, and character choices before committing to the entire book.

What is your recording and editing process?

Each chapter is recorded, edited, and quality‑checked individually to ensure consistency across the entire audiobook.

My process includes:

  • Professional studio recording in an acoustically treated environment

  • Punch‑and‑roll recording for clean reads

  • Careful editing to remove mouth noise, breaths, and artifacts

  • Room‑tone management for seamless flow

  • Loudness, peak, and noise‑floor compliance with industry standards

Every chapter is reviewed for pacing, clarity, and tonal continuity before delivery.

What audio standards do you follow?

All audiobooks are produced to professional distribution standards, including Audible/ACX and major publisher requirements.

Typical targets include:

  • Consistent RMS loudness

  • Controlled true peak levels

  • Clean, inaudible noise floor

  • Natural dynamic range suitable for long‑form listening

Final files are delivered in the required format (usually high‑quality MP3 or WAV), clearly labeled and ready for upload.

What are your audiobook rates?

My standard rate is $200 per finished hour (PFH).

This rate includes:

  • Full narration

  • Editing and proofing

  • Mastered, retail‑ready audio files

  • One reasonable round of revisions

For ongoing series, publishers, or long‑term collaborations, rate discussions are always welcome.

How long does it take to produce an audiobook?

Turnaround time depends on length, complexity, and scheduling, but a general estimate is:

  • 2.5–3.5 production hours per finished hour of audio

This includes recording, editing, proofing, and QC. A typical full‑length novel is usually completed well within standard publisher timelines.

Deadlines and milestones are always discussed and agreed upon before production begins.

How are revisions handled?

One reasonable round of revisions is included as part of the PFH rate.  For a full description of the Revisions Policy click here.

Revisions typically cover:

  • Minor line pickups

  • Pronunciation corrections

  • Small pacing or emphasis adjustments

Any changes involving rewritten text or substantial performance direction changes after approval may require additional discussion.

Do you work with publishers and production companies?

Yes. I regularly work with:

  • Independent authors

  • Small and mid‑size publishers

  • Large audiobook production companies

I’m comfortable working within established production pipelines, file‑naming conventions, and QC processes.

What do you need from the author or rights holder?

To ensure a smooth production, I ask for:

  • Finalized manuscript (DOCX or PDF)

  • Pronunciation guidance for names or terminology

  • Character descriptions or accent notes (if applicable)

  • Any preferred pacing or tonal references

Clear communication upfront leads to faster production and better results.

Can I hear samples of your work?

Absolutely.

You can find audiobook samples, character work, and narration demos throughout this site by clicking here. Each sample reflects real‑world audiobook production—not over‑produced demos.
